Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated Staff Engineer to join our Engineering Department. The Staff Engineer will play a critical role in supporting the planning, design, technology, and operation of our electric distribution system. This position requires a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the design and maintenance of electric distribution systems, including overhead and underground lines.
- Conduct system studies and analysis to ensure system reliability, efficiency, and safety.
- Provide technical support for new construction, system upgrades, and maintenance projects.
- Prepare engineering designs, specifications, and cost estimates for projects.
- Collaborate with internal departments and external stakeholders to coordinate projects and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Support the development and implementation of system automation and smart grid technologies.
- Support communication infrastructure, AMI, AI and other emerging technologies.
- Participate in emergency response efforts and provide technical assistance during outages and storm restoration.
- Stay current with industry standards, best practices, and emerging technologies to continuously improve the cooperative’s engineering operations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Ability to obtain a Professional Engineer (PE) license a plus.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in electric utility engineering.
- Strong knowledge of electric distribution systems, design standards, substations, utility technology applications, and construction practices.
- Knowledge with engineering software and tools, such as AutoCAD, GIS, and power system analysis software desired.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
