Pioneer Electric Cooperative recently wrapped up its third annual summer Energy Camp, a camp designed to inspire students from Champaign, Miami, and Shelby counties. This year’s STEM-focused camp had nearly 40 students split into two sessions, from June 11 to 13 in Piqua and June 25 to 27 in Urbana. The camp was open to students entering grades 5 through 7, who have interest in energy, energy efficiency, engineering, and electric cooperatives. April 18 is slated as national lineworker appreciation day. The art contest is open to children in kindergarten to 8th grade. Categories: K–2, 3–5, 6–8 grades. Artwork should be completed on an 11- x 14-inch or smaller sheet of white paper. Entries will be judged on creativity and overall artistic ability according to your age category. Winners will be announced and published in our May issue of Ohio Cooperative Living magazine.   Last week, representatives from electric cooperatives throughout the nation, including two from Pioneer, attended the 2023 Legislative Conference in Washington, D.C. Ohio co-ops met with nine Representatives and Senators Sherrod Brown and JD Vance to discuss power generation, reliability, supply chain challenges, and federal permitting processes.
