Fifteen area high school seniors have been selected to receive the Pioneer Electric Cooperative 2026 Children of Members Scholarship. The program recognizes outstanding students whose families are members of the cooperative and supports their pursuit of higher education. Each selected student will receive a $500 scholarship to help offset the cost of continuing their education after high school. Pioneer Electric awarded 10 scholarships to children of members. Eight of those area high school seniors have been selected to receive Pioneer Electric Cooperative’s 2024 Children of Members scholarships, awarded to students who plan to attend a traditional college or university. Thirty-eight students throughout Pioneer’s service territory applied for the scholarships and 25 students were interviewed, by judges from outside the cooperative, to narrow the applicants to 10. Pioneer Electric Cooperative was named a 2023 Tree Line USA by the Arbor Day Foundation to recognize its dedication to proper urban forest management in the provider’s service area. Tree Line USA, a partnership between the Arbor Day Foundation and the National Association of State Foresters, recognizes public and private utilities for pursuing best practices that protect and cultivate America’s urban tree canopy.
