Board Approves Renaming of Union Substation
The Pioneer Electric Board of Trustees initiated and approved the renaming of Union Substation to Salyer Substation in honor of longtime CEO, Ron Salyer, during the August Board Meeting. This recognition comes ahead of Ron’s retirement on September 16, 2024. Ron has served the cooperative for the past 27 years, including 23 years as CEO.
“Ron has played a key role in collaborating with City of Union officials to attract industry to the area,” said Mark Bailey, Board of Trustees Chair. “He has led the charge in developing Pioneer’s electrical infrastructure to serve its expanding electrical load. This major substation was part of that effort.”
The Pioneer Board felt it was a fitting tribute to rename the substation in Ron’s honor as its completion coincides with his planned retirement. The Salyer Substation began serving members on September 5, 2024.
