Upper Valley JVS Wind Turbine Installation

Students, staff, and media eagerly gathered on April 28, 2010, to witness the long anticipated installation of a 3.2 kW residential scale Proven wind turbine on the JVS grounds. The turbine, installed on a 120ft. tower, is just one of the renewable energy systems that the school is installing to be used for training in their Alternative Energy and Green Systems course offered at the adult division. Curriculum is also to be developed at the high school level to learn more about these systems. The school will also be installing a solar array and solar thermal (solar hot water) system to be a part of their training. There will be a public access display that will provide information on the performance of all the systems, as well as an online application to track performance.

For more information about these renewable energy projects or courses offered at the JVS,
